Remove Academic Blocks
To graduate from Highline College, you must earn a minimum college-level cumulative GPA of 2.0. The Academic Standards Policy helps students be informed of their academic progress and connect with resources for success. The college will contact you when your quarterly or cumulative GPA is below the standard of 2.0. You may need to take actions to improve your academic performance.
Academic Suspension: Academic Suspension is a status indicating a student has repeatedly not met the academic standards policy. Students are on Academic Suspension if their cumulative and quarterly GPAs are below 2.0 for two or more consecutive quarters. A registration block is placed on Academic Suspension students, preventing enrollment in courses. In order to have the Academic Suspension registration block lifted, students are required to complete a Student Success Plan, which provides an opportunity for reflection and planning for future quarters.

- After submission of the Student Success Plan, the Retention and Completion Services department staff will reach out to the student to provide additional resources and services in response to the submitted Student Success Plan.
- Though not required, it is encouraged that students meet a Highline College advisor (e.g. Pathway Advisor, Faculty Advisor, or other support advisors if you are enrolled in TRiO/MESA/UMOJA/Achieve) to receive assistance in the completion of the Student Success Plan.
Please contact Retention and Completion Services if you have any questions or need further support. More information about our Academic Standards Policy can be found here.
